About the Pink Titans
"Pink Of The Possibilities!"
The Pink Titans - Team 5719 of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) - is an awards-winning, high school robotics team made of students, teachers, and mentors who are interested in learning, teaching, and collaborating in the context of a fun, challenging, yet rewarding robotics experience.
- 5719: Number designation given by the FIRST Headquarters in New Hampshire, USA.
- Pink: Meanings of the colour are associated with key characteristics of the team - acceptance, hopefulness, optimism, playfulness, and youthfulness. Promotion of efforts by the Canadian Cancer Society in combating breast cancer. Promotion of awareness in support of equitable, diverse, and inclusive communities.
- Titans: Defined as those who "gain strength and stand out in greatness of achievement". Participating in and sustaining a FIRST Robotics program are celebrated, memorable accomplishments! Titans is also the name of school teams at David & Mary Thomson Collegiate Institute.
The team was founded in November 2014 in time for the January start of the 2015 FRC game, called Recycle Rush.
The team is based at David & Mary Thomson Collegiate Institute, a high school in the Bendale community of Scarborough in Toronto, Ontario. In Fall 2019, the team with the school students moved into a brand new school building:

Mission
To celebrate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math; 21st Century-workplace) education by fostering a collaborative, exciting, and engaging culture of learning STEM-focused skills, teaching and applying them, then sharing with the greater community.

"Pink Of The Possibilities": New members are accepted and welcomed. All members participate with hope and optimism. All members feel comfortable to try and learn new things, take risks, and discover what is possible for consideration of further pursuits of interests.
Goals
- Design, build, and program robots that compete in annual game challenge of the FIRST Robotics Competition
- Engage in STEM-focused learning: Promote awareness, interest, and excitement in STEM via outreach
- Continually improve and increase the overall knowledge of the team
- Build and foster Mentor-Mentee relationships to sustain learning, plus inspire and motivate youth to achieve goals

- Adhere to the FIRST Core Values. In May 2018, FIRST Headquarters modified and adapted its Core Values of the FIRST LEGO League program to all of the FIRST programs, including the FIRST Robotics Competition:
