Crescent School, Jan. 7, 2017
|
On Jan. 7, 2017, members of FIRST Robotics Team 5719 attended the 2017 Kick-Off and participated in Quick Build at Crescent School, home of FRC 610 - Coyotes in Toronto, Ontario. Rubika Nanthakumar, an alumni of FRC 5719 from 2015, provided support to the team and the Kick-Off event.
It was a great opportunity for the team to build the drive train from the Kit Of Parts, provided by FIRST Robotics, within hours after Kick-Off while receiving help from veteran teams like FRC 1325 - Inverse Paradox and FRC 1360 - Orbit Robotics.

Six Week Build: Weeks 0 to 5
David & Mary Thomson Collegiate Institute, Jan. 9 to Feb. 16, 2017
The goals of the robot were determined in the first week. The robot was designed to score by two ways: Passive intake of gears and climbing the rope within the last 30 seconds of the match. The chassis was rebuilt to meet the dimensions of the regulations of the game.
Noeen Kashif of FRC 188 - Woburn Robotics was very kind to visit on the weekend to confirm designs of prototypes of the passive gear manipulator. Nithusan Ranjanathan and Muhammad Farooq, both alumni of the team from 2015, helped current members by providing advice and mentoring on electrical, CAD, and mechanical principles.
Mr. Wilson, a retired Department Head of Technological Studies, visited and mentored members on the utilization of machines in the Metal Shop.
