Engineering Design Process

In the FIRST program, students practice the Engineering Design Process of producing a solution to a problem. In the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), the team has six continuous weeks to produce a product, ready to compete at the FRC Regional or District Event, by Bag-And-Tag Day at the end of the Six Week Build.

Kick-Off Day

FRC teams from around the world were waiting for the first Saturday of the new year to arrive! On that day, the 2018 Game & Season Manual would be unlocked at the end of the Kick-Off video. On Jan. 6, 2018, the Pink Titans attended one of FIRST Canada's Kick-Off events at Crescent School (home of FRC 610, Crescent Coyotes). The 2018 FRC game was revealed to be Power Up!

Define the Problem

Goal: Design, build, and program a < 120-lb robot that participates in Power Up!, the 2018 game of FIRST Robotics Competition.

Program robot to autonomously move across Auto Line within 15 seconds of start of match
Drive robot to “power cubes” and Platform
In-take power cube
Shoot power cube on Scale, in Switch, and in Exchange for points

Members of the Pink Titans participated in the Quick Build, immediately after the Kick-Off at Crescent School. The members assembled the Drive Train from AndyMark's Kit Of Parts, provided to team optionally at the start of the Six Week Build.
