  On Nov. 29, 2017, 18 teams of the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competed at the FLL Qualifying Event at David & Mary Thomson Collegiate Institute, home of FRC 5719 - Pink Titans.

Awards

  FLL Teams 458 (THE WALKING LEAD), 1952 (H2Osome), and 320 (The Odd Socks) qualified for the FLL Ontario East Provincial Championships at Durham College, Oshawa, ON.

  Two teams from the FLL Qualifier at David & Mary Thomson C. I. earned awards at the FLL Ontario East Provincial Championships:

• Champion's Award, 2nd Place: FLL 458 - THE WALKING LEAD
• Ontario Innovation Celebration Certificate: FLL 458 - THE WALKING LEAD
• Young Adult Mentor Award: Manahil Rauf of FLL 1952 - H2Osome and 2014 - Water Buddies

  Congratulations to FLL 458 - THE WALKING LEAD who finished with the Core Values Award at the FLL LEGOLAND California International Open.  Read about the team and its #Don'tClipOurWings campaign about persuading the TDSB to lift its ban for international excursions for elementary school students, as the ban was lifted for secondary school students, and allow continued student voice for social causes.  The article was written by T.
