2015 Greater Toronto East Regional
Campus Wellness and Recreation Centre, Durham College/UOIT, Oshawa, Ontario; March 13 and 14, 2015
On Mar. 13 and 14, 2015, the Pink Titans were recipients of the Rookie Inspiration Award and Highest Rookie Seed Award. The Rookie Inspiration Award "celebrates a rookie team’s outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering and engineers, both within their school, as well as in their community." The Highest Rookie Seed Award "celebrates the highest-seeded rookie team at the conclusion of the qualifying rounds." The team placed 16th out of 47 teams.
The venue was the Athletic Centre at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology / Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. Forty-seven teams participated over two days.
Mark Breadner (Executive Director of FIRST Robotics Canada, Dr. Woodie Flowers (Co-founder of FIRST Robotics), and Annika Pint (TDSB FIRST Administrator) in the Titans Pit Area at the Greater Toronto East Regional.
The Pink Titans invited 30 students from Knob Hill Junior Public School to their first FIRST event. The students and teacher really enjoyed their day and expressed interest in joining the FIRST Lego League. In Fall of 2016, a few of the students joined Thomson's VEX Robotics Team.
In Qualification Match 78, the robot of Team 5719 was repurposed by carrying a ramp to deliver totes to Team 2056 - OP Robotics (Stoney Creek, ON), who then stacked more totes more quickly.
Recognition of Rookie Teams 5428 - Breaking Bots (Markham, ON), 5596 - Wolverines (Toronto, ON), 5652 - Eagles (Ottawa, ON), and 5719.
